Okay, things have been pretty busy and I know it's been awhile since we've gotten around to an update. Let me say again that having a baby tends to make you busy.
Anyways in poetry news: I just found out that I am officially the Poet Laureate for Sunland/Tujunga! It's a big honor and I'm looking forward to promoting poetry in the Sunland-Tujunga area. There will be a crowning of the laurels ceremony on Sunday 4/13. I'll put more info in the Upcoming Readings section as it becomes available.
That's the big news, in other news...I was a featured reader up in SLO last week (my first paid gig) which was fun. Sold out of all the books I brought with me which was a first. Read some new stuff and it went well. I've updated the set-list in the readings archive.
Other than that, We Are Our Own Lions is selling well (it'll sell even better if you buy a copy). My CD Burn Process Complete will be dropping in about a month and my upcoming poetry flip book: The Carter Variations / The Final Days of Rock and Roll should be arriving in the latter part of 2008 - early part of 2009. I'm really excited about both of these projects and will give you more info as we move closer towards their respective releases.

My essay Parental Guidance Strongly Suggested earned a "commended" distinction in the recent Tom Howard National Short Story / Essay Contest. By being placed among the other 13 "commended" writers I'm in the top 35 of the over 1600 submissions to the contest. ("Highly Commended" recognized places 22-11). Not too shabby. I would like to thank Suzanne Lummis for all her help and guidance during the writing of PGSS.

It's been a busy few months. Jayme and I welcomed our son Carter into the world at the end of March. At the end of April Egoboy Studios published it's third book and first anthology:
Hellos and Goodbyes. It's a collection of 28 poems from 12 of the best poets I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. This is also the first book that I've ever edited (along with my brillant co-editor James Levin). Click on the book title to get all the information, I'm very excited about this project.

My first chapbook On The Rise, I Guess has sold out! I would like to thank everyone who came to a reading and purchased it. It means a lot to have the initial print run completely gone and in the hands of you, the public.
